So What Do I Think About This Album?

This album was made 2003-2004 at Perrow Audio in Fairfield, at home here in Rockland, at Vincent Gabriel's studio in Warren and Bob Colwell's studio in Hallowell. Harry King was the main engineer. Bob Colwell did post-production mixing on the Sewing Song and The Storm, and played a very nice organ on The Storm. Musicians besides myself are Scott Eliot on bass, Craig Record on drums. John Koutny gets co-write credit on Morning Glory, and contributes guitar on Morning Glory and a guitar solo on Cross the Line. Harry King plays piano and synth on Kid.
What do I think about this album? Should you buy it? Here's the deal. It's an intense listen. I keep it alive because people who give me feedback on the overall effect tell me that it was personally helpful for them. I don't actually like this album in the abstract, sitting here thinking about it, but then sometimes I listen to it, and it catches me offguard. I hear it differently every time, and I think that is a good indication that it bears a listen. When we create art, we release it into the unknown. It may have been about me at one point, but it's not about me anymore. Now it is about whatever you make of it.
It's pretty interesting musically. I would have done a lot more with some of the arranging had I had the studio skills I have now, but I decided to leave it as is because it was where I was at then. If you are interested in the pure musical aspect of life, the Sewing Song is likely the most harmonically interesting. My digital distributor, the Orchard, calls it a singer songwriter album with a few rock and roll twists. Lyrically, they call it an exploration of the underworld of relationships.
My favorite song on the album is "Perfect Circle." The guitar playing and singing are about the best it gets with me, and there are some neat harmonies that happen. In fact, I wish I could remember how I played a few of those chords. That song means the most personally to me, because it will tell you that I came through the metaphoric Underworld and left it behind. It's a nice all-purpose love song, too. The song that gets downloaded the most out there in digital rip off world is November Rain, which is my least favorite song in the collection. Go Figure. Well- do with it what you will, legally please, I need to buy groceries too. You've got the full versions here, eventually I will make them into clips so they can't be downloaded, but for now please be honest. Enjoy the journey, Lizzie
